Frequently asked questions

As Nanna Deb Childcare, I am dedicated to providing exceptional in-home childcare services in Ballarat, VIC, Australia. My approach is built on a foundation of safety, experience, and a genuine love for children, ensuring every child receives the best care possible.

What makes Nanna Deb Childcare stand out from other childcare options?

I hold a Diploma in Community Services combined with 20 years of experience working in childcare settings. I have a current WWCC card and a police check clearance. I am trained in Anaphylaxis Management, Asthma Management, along with a Level 2 First Aid Certificate, including CPR. I have certificates in safe sleeping, active supervision, and safe food handling. I also hold a full VIC. Drivers Licence with a clean driving record.

What key things do you do to ensure children in your care are always safe and sound?

I conduct a check of the play area to identify any hazards, such as broken toys. I then remove them from the area and store them safely away. I clean up spills immediately to prevent slips and falls. I also clear toys from the floor to prevent trips and falls. I am always aware of the children's position in relation to any potential climbing hazards. I am alert to any visitors to the house to ensure the children are kept safe at all times.

How are you prepared to handle emergencies and what steps do you take?

In the event of an emergency, such as a fire in the house, I would get the child out and then call the fire brigade. Then I would call the parent of the child to inform them of the situation. In the event of a danger outside, I would lock all doors and windows, close the blinds, bring the child with me to a central room within the house, and call the police. Meanwhile, I would try to keep the child calm and play a quiet game or read a story to them until the police arrived and/or the danger was over. Then I would call the parent to inform them of the situation and assure them that everybody is safe.
